Pleasant stay in Rouen for one night.

Rouen by night. Church of Saint Maclou.

Rouen Cathedral, the tallest in France, has been the coronation and resting place of the Dukes of Normandy. It remains the see of the Archbishop of Rouen, Primate of Normandy. The Cathedral houses a tomb containing the heart of Richard the Lionheart, the English King and Duke of the Normandy.

Cathédrale Notre Dame de Rouen

During the summer between mid June and mid September there is a daily light show at twilight with free admission. It was introduced in 2015. The facade of the Cathedral is illuminated by the visuals narrating the story of William the Conqueror and Joan of Arc this year.

A phantastic light show!

Only few streets further away the church of Joan of Arc commemorates the national heroine of France. She was burnt at the stake for heresy in 1431. A small garden outside and to the North of the church marks the exact position where it took place.

Further nordwards another overnight stay in Gent in a comfy B & B. This time we just look forward to be back home soon and again, strengthened by energy and lots of impressions!
