Arrived safely in Beijing! Air France was great, meal delicious, seat in the premium economy comfortable enough for the  sleep missed last night.

Anina, the hostess for my first week in Beijing gave a very good direction to her flat that I found it straight away. Airport express train  from terminal 2 to Sanyuanqiao (25 RMB = 3,60 Euro), from there with subway line 10 to next Shuangjing Station (4 RMB = Yuan = 60 Eurocent). Then only few minute walk further to her flat on top of the building, 27th floor with panoramic view looking on to the architectural landmark, the CCTV (China Central Television) tower. From the distance it just looks like an up-side-down U.

My accomodation in Beijing

Gone are the days of blue collar clothing and bicycles. The streets are congested by cars. The traffic flow is slow but more civilised than in Southeast Asia. There are few motor cycles but you don’t hear them because they have electric engine. Rickshaws are only for tourists.

Saturday night dancing

Beijings subway ist modern, air conditioned, signposted by simplified Chinese and Pinyin, the official transscription in Latin letters. So it is quite easy to use, also for the newbies in the city.
