After 10 hours direct flight from Amsterdam I land in a megacity with over 10 millions inhabitants, again. All goes straight forward. Pleasant flight. Quick handling at Chengdu Airport. Cash by credit card from ATM at the airport exit, free of charge (as in town). Current exchange rate: 1 Euro is approx. 7,5 Yuan.

The side roads around my hotel, just 10 minutes walk away to Chunxi road, the main and huge shopping area of Chengdu for nearly hundred years.

The airport shuttle busses wait just in front of the terminal. Line 2 takes you to town centre, Tianfu square, for 17 Yuan nearly every 20 minutes. From there I have to ride 3 Metro stations further for 2 Yuan. And my hotel is just 5 mintues walk from the final station. Thumb up!

Chunxi road is not only a street, it is equal to an urban area with endless shops and restaurants, serving daily from 10am to 10pm including Sundays

All the international brands are to be found here

After arriving in the hotel, 4 stars and free mini bar, the usual procedure: A little rest, refreshing and back on the street to explore the surroundings. The temperature outside is sunny 35°C but not unbearable humid.

And suddenly I find myself in a shopper crowd! The good side of it: It is good to know, no one is going to starve here. All kinds of food are available. 24 hours convenient stores are at every corner. A delicious noodle soup of XL-size plus a drink in the eatery starts from 15 Yuan, about 2 Euro.

The latter the evening the more shoppers
