One has her birthday on Wednesday evening, and the other on Friday. The Burmese zodiac has eight days a week, the Wednesday is split into Wednesday morning (up to 12am) and Wednesday evening (after 12am), according to the planets Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Rahu. There is Ketu, the King of all planets, but it is not included in the zodiac.

There are eight planetary posts with Buddha resides over its representing animals: Garuda, tiger, lion, tusked elephant, tuskless elephant, mouse, guinea pig and naga, placed around the Shwedagon Stupa. Each Burmese knows his zodiac and offers flowers, flags, pour water over the residing Buddha and the animal of their post, and prays for his fortune.

Also, it is customary to circumnavigate the Stupa in a clockwise direction. We do it twice for the double happiness…
